Thanksgiving Traditions

Happy Thanksgiving readers! The holiday season is upon us. I hope you enjoy your turkey and spending time with loved ones today.

I wanted to share a small family tradition that recently started. I have a very large family (table for 35, please!) and before my grandmother passed away she would make all of the pies for our Thanksgiving feast. Now that she is no longer with us, my aunts have taken over the duties with a modern spin. We all get together on Thanksgiving eve and bake between 8-10 pies, order pizzas, drink, and just spend time together before the next day’s food coma.

This year I decided to bring all the ingredients for Pumpkin Pie Martinis! After seeing Eat Drink Cleveland post about them and then a recipe from a client, Be Envied Entertaining, I knew I couldn’t pass it up. To say they were a hit would be an understatement!

Coincidentally, my Aunt Cathy had a giant martini glass on hand- and madness ensued.

My Mom, me, my Aunt Cathy enjoying a sip while baking.

Myself, my cousin Dee, her husband Bobby, and my Aunt Cathy.

Can you see a theme here? My aunt and I really enjoyed the big martini glass..

And with all of the chaos, pie baking, pizza eating, and basketball watching (from the men) Petra managed to only snag herself a quarter of one pie.

What are your Thanksgiving traditions? I’d love to hear about them in the comments.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
