Secrets of Hermès

Last weekend at his family brunch, JPC’s mother let me know that a very special Hermès event would be happening at The Cleveland Museum of Art and I knew I couldn’t miss it.

In perfect alignment, Saturday was the perfect day to spend at the museum – it was rainy and cold and I didn’t have another thing scheduled to disrupt me. I couldn’t wait to pop over to attend such an exclusive event, minutes from my home.

I was lucky enough to have a front row seat and meet-and-greet with Hermès Communications Manager, Kamel Hamadou, who was gracious enough to lend me his favorite carré for our photo.

Throughout the 2 hour process, Hermès artisan Henri Lely took us through each detail of printing one of the famous scarves by demonstrating the screening live in the atrium at the museum.

I’ve been lusting after one of the scarves since I first stepped foot in the Chicago store more than 8 years ago, and this amazing demonstration of such an intricate process rekindled my need (and justification of a carré of my own)

Hermés does not allow for factory tours as to not disrupt the artisans during their more than 10 stages of printing one scarf, so observing this demonstration was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I can’t put words to how impressed and in awe I am over the details and dedication to quality that Hermès has, it absolutely defines luxury.

I can honestly say I have NEVER had an experience with a brand that has been so memorable and I cannot wait until I find my perfect scarf to cherish knowing it was made with such care.
