As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, there is a 1 in 4 chance that I will develop the disease myself. This is just one of the many facts that women my age are in the dark about when it comes to breast and ovarian health.
October is breast cancer awareness month, and a few weekends ago I had the pleasure of attending Bright Pink’s Fab Fest 2014 – a day of fundraising, fitness and all around fun to bring awareness to breast and ovarian health. The event raised over $100,000 for this great organization!
I attended an awesome yoga class, got a rub down from my FAVORITE folks at Scared Hour and got my hair done in a beautiful set of braids that I ended up rocking all night when I went out later.
Last but not least, my favorite beverage brothers were there, sharing NOOMA goodies (and providing prime eye candy) with all the ladies in attendance.
Fab Fest 2014 was Cleveland’s inaugural event for Bright Pink – I hope you spend a minute liking them on Facebook to stay up to date on their initiatives and ways to locally get involved. While you’re at it – take a time out and give yourself (or a loved one!) a breast exam – it could save your life.
Disclosure: I was provided a media pass to attend and blog about this event.
